We compare and show the date where we hold one
- Our figures come from road controlling authorities, NZTA Waka Kotahi, mapping providers and driver reports.
- We compared our figures with the council’s own bylaws, notices or maps for more than 50 authorities.
- Each bridge record shows the date it was last verified, where we hold one.
- Driver reports may be reviewed before anything changes.
No warning is not a green light
- We can’t verify every council’s data, and coverage varies by region.
- Councils can change or add restrictions at any time.
- We may not show every bridge, structure or hazard.
- No warning on the app does not mean your route suits your vehicle.
HAULR is a route planning aid. It doesn’t replace road signage, permits, pilot requirements or your own judgement. You remain responsible for your route, your permits and your load.
Narrow bridges haven’t been checked on site. For over-dimension loads, treat every narrow bridge as a place to proceed with caution.
Not every record is equal, so we grade them.
A weight limit read off a council bylaw isn’t the same as a structure where we hold no figure. Here’s how our structure records break down today.
Published figure
A figure taken from a council or NZTA notice, bylaw or map, read from the published document. We have not checked every sign on the road, so check the signs.
NZTA 50MAX restriction, posted limit not held
NZTA lists these structures as restricted for 50MAX vehicles but does not publish a posted weight limit. We show a flag, not a number. For some of them we have found a council figure and may add it. Check NZTA\’s current 50MAX information and the signs on the road.
NZTA screening results
149 are crane-access test results and 363 are notes about overweight-permit vehicles. Neither is a posted limit, and neither is shown as one.
Rail structures, not individually reviewed
Loaded from KiwiRail's structure register. We hold no weight or height data for them.
No weight or height data held
We know the structure exists but hold no figure for it. Working through these is the bulk of our data work.
Figure under review
A figure we are re-checking against a newer source.

A sign, a limit or a bridge that has changed. Reports may be reviewed before anything in the app changes.
